In Temple Run, an adventurer arrives at an ancient temple in search of treasure, only to be chased by monsters. All you have to do is turn, jump and fall backwards, climbing over the temple walls and up the cliff faces, shaking your device to collect gold coins in the process.
The game is easy to understand and can be played with just one hand, but it is so difficult that any mistake you make will require you to start all over again. The gameplay is very similar to most parkour games, overcoming obstacles and traps as you keep flying forward.
But in Temple Run the player controls an Indiana Jones-like character, escaping from some ancient temple in the rainforest and being chased by a group of monkey-like demon guards in the temple. The character is automatically driven forward while the player controls him to avoid the various dangers he encounters on his way out. Unlike most parkour games, however, the game does not feature the usual 2D landscape graphics, but a full 3D third-person view instead.

There are only three actions to perform: jumping (swipe your finger up), sliding (swipe your finger down) and turning (swipe your finger left or right). Tilting the device moves the explorer from one side of the road to the other, allowing the explorer to collect coins and avoid obstacles.
The player can also use gravity sensing to tilt the player's phone left and right to move your character left and right along the way. In addition to falling off cliffs or hitting traps, tripping over roots or falling into obstacles will also get you killed by pursuers.
